A huge disaster for the son of native land if he doesn't know customs and traditions of his people, and a great shame is when he, showing disregard to this note, borrows foreign customs and traditions, which make him funny and crummy in the eyes of other people, and not even useless but dangerous for the native service.
Count Voroncov
It happens so that practically every reader who is interested in native fighting arts just by the edge of an ear has heard about some 'mysterious' self-defence system called Korosu. Multifold publications in press, several broadcasts thruogh regional television definitely made their job. But a flashpoint of all toward it was the first in the history of Russia International seminar about fighting art of Korosu, which, due to some happy coincidence, rather successfully and solemnly occurred in Desnogorsk town in Smolensk's area in April 2002. In this way we wanted it or not, the fighting art of Korosu had already become familiar and ordinary, it only remains to be admitted and counted with. Let's admit that our country is rich enough with its high discoveries and good traditions in sport wrestling. Box, karate, Dziudo, samba and other are successfully developing here from long ago. A legitimate question appears! Why do we need Korosu additionally? Really, after conducting the International seminars and showing performances, the relationships with Korosu had became ambiguous. On the one side, there are already hundreds of young people, who are excitingly and successfully assimilating the basics of our national self-defence system. On the other side, there are sinuous looks and common talks about inanity and harm of such training. Till now on somebody cannot understand how it is possible to train under the system which involves no sport competitions at all. And somebody had viewed elements of cruelty and violence at our showing of performances.
What is Korosu system? As it happened historically, we always liked everything that is foreign and exotic. It is enough to remember some of our tales and folk stories about foreign wonders and to thumb the works of such famous masters of native history like N. Karamzin, N. Ustrialov and N. Kostomarov. We will not analyse and criticise all the spectrum of social-political questions of Russian history, but we will shortly stop on the evolution of only one phenomenon ' on our native fighting art. With unfake proud we read historical stories and watching films about unbreakable Russian warriors from the times of Aleksandr Nevsky and Dmitry Donskoj, Ivan Grozny and Peter the First. With a surprise, we find that only Russian warriors safeguarded Chinese Imperators from the dynasty of Min, as they were mostly well trained and faithful. With admire we read epics about Heroic deeds of Russian soldiers and officers from the times of Aleksandr Suvorov and Michael Kutuzov. And what were heroic deeds of our warriors during the past XX century!? The Russian-Japanese, Public, Finnish, Great Native, Afghan wars and so on. Those who were seriously interested in the history of wars knew what place was taken by the efficiency of the Russian hand fight in the descriptions of the cruellest battles off all the times. But at these times our ancestors knew nothing either about Japanese karate and Dziudo, either about Korean Thekvondo or Hapkido, or about Chinese Ushu and Cynna. So how did they evade? Always and during all the times, as actually all other nations, we had our native fighting art. Definitely, during clashing on the battlefield with warriors of another tribe, Russian soldiers, as well as our opponents, had been replenishing their skills with the most effective moves from other systems. The process of assimilation and mutual enrichment of struggle techniques had been constantly continued. So why in the beginning of XX century we had forgot about ours and put such considerate attention to the fighting arts of the East? It had its reasons.
EURASIAN FIGHTING TRADITION
We are Eurasians! A giant continent where the biggest part of a planet's population lives, a consolidation of nations, which were 'cooked' in mutual ethnic boiler during the thousands of years from the shores of Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic, and from freezing Northern Ocean till zealous Indian Ocean. Russia and Belarus (Byelorussia) has a special historical and geographical world, which doesn't belong completely either to Europe or to Asia; unrepeatable individuality, where a consolidation of different nations and nationalities forms up a successful developing of each. Academician L.N. Gumilev told that: 'Forever changing, dying and rebirthing, like every living thing on our planet, the ethnos leave a step of the past by the way of making works, this makes up a skeleton of the ethnic history. This step ' is a memory about events.' In our case, this step is an ancient fighting tradition, in which we are weak inheritors of the grand ancestors.
For centuries and for thousands of years people had been fighting with each other. All the tribes and nations, without the exception, created their own ways of close fighting with using weapons or without them. There had always been a steady adoption, during which one forms of making clashing moved to the past, hustled by others that were more effective. The natural selection had been always going on and the stronger ones terminated the weak fighters. And in this way it had lasted for the thousands of years! The steps of these everlasting struggles couldn't escape they are here ' inside us. The genetic memory of every person keeps information about the past ' after all we are THE INHERITORS OF THE WINNERS, because the losers didn't leave any inheritors! Naturally, there cannot be cowards and weaks among us. There are people, whose inside memory still didn't wake up. Of course, the majority of 'civilised' persons have a slipping memory all their life, but it doesn't mean that in each of us movements and these forgotten skills, with the help of which our far ancestors crushed the sculls of their enemies, are not inserted. We only need to awake by the natural way this memory about long time experience of the ancestors-winners. Exactly to this reason serves the tradition of Korosu.
SOME FACTS FROM HISTORY
Many nations have saved their legends about the time, when the civilisation of Hyperboriers had spread in the North. Northern words have roots, which mean ''sun'. Karelija, The Carsc Sea involves a root 'kar-cars'(Hors or Kors was a God of a sun, fought with demons and always returned with the punishing sword). Pro-Indo-Europeans called themselves Arians (that means noble warrior). According to the ancient sources ('Rigveda'and 'Avesta') it is possible to make a conclusion that the Arian tribes were not native inhabitants either in Europe or in Asia. These tribes came from the North long time ago to the territory of modern China. From these impossibly old times came the word korochiun (karachiun). It has two meanings: first is winter's sun turn on the 12 th. of December (due to the old style), the second meaning is unpredictable death. THE DEATH! To kill (okrotit) somebody. This word exists in all Slavic (kracun, krocic, kroszyc, kraceti and so on) and in some other European languages (caraciun). There is a similar word to 'Korosu' in Japanese language it means TO KILL! It is very logical to imagine that one of the oldest meanings of fighting skills was exactly the word korociun .By the way, A.V. Suvorov in his 'Winning Science' had wrote: 'Hit the enemy with a sword, karachiun!'
For the fifteen centuries already a tribe called the cords (they called themselves:'the curds') has not left the battlefield. As the first sword-users and horse riders, they had brought into the world an idea of Arta ' idea of living in accordance with Divine order and the truth. The Faith is a spirit of their religion. All the neighbors called cords a 'hero-tribe' and this name had claimed after them like a part of their genetics. A.S. Pushkin had met them near the Azerum place, where the most southern line of birches had been marked. He wrote an article about them in French. A name 'Cord' means 'sword', enemy termination weapon, in all ancient languages of Iran. People told that they were shirking timidity like the plague, and thinking that cowardice signs that God had left them. They believed that God was only with the courageous ones and 'cowardice could born a devil'. And this is only the one chapter from a divergent fighting tradition of Eurasia!
A famous scientist A. Asov thinks, that ancient Arians had passed over the Altaj. 'A lot of tribes had come from the Altaj and spread all over in Eurasia. Exactly here we can find this exclusive bole, from which the Turks, the Indo-Europeans and the ancestors of Slavs had branched off ', - he claims. Here a memory about the affinity of Slavs and Turks still exists. These legends go down to the III-I millenary before our days, when Altaj was inhabited by the Skiffs, Sax, Sarmatsic tribes, which were confirmed to be the ancestors of many Turkish and Slavic genders. In a 'Book of Vealace', which was wrote by the Horvat Volhves approximately in the IX century, had wrote that:' Firstly there was a family of the Slavs in Great Huge Mountains (the Altaj)’And we, the Arians, came from Arian Land to the Land of Inn (inception of the Huanhe river)’And we went away from the Land of Inn (according to Chinese chronic the 'Land of Inn' existed from 1395 to 1122 years before our days, and the Dynasty of Inns had ruled at that time) and we went to the place where eyes were looking. And we went over the Farsic Land (exactly after the fall of the Inn's Dynasty, 'the Indoarian' appeared on the territory of Persia) and we went far’over the Kajala to the Nepre-river’ and we went to Syria’ after that we went through Great Mountains (Caucasian), through snow and ice and came to the prairies and settled there with all our flocks. And there our archers were called the Skiffs’' Ancient Greek scientist Herodot in his 'Melpomena' wrote that: 'They all have a mutual name ' THE SKOLLOTS, from the name of their king (Sclavins, Slavs). They were called the Skiffs by the Greeks.' I.A. Voronov, the developer, thinks that classic conception of fight teaching, accepted in China, had made a great influence on 'the Den-Lun people'(this how Chinese called Arians). According to his opinion, in the start of fight teaching art there laid a complex staged system of educational influence using hunt and work measures, military preparation, fighting arts, bewitchments and prays, different drugs and tinkling circuits.
There was a perception of 'washing', which had a meaning of special Psycho-physic exercises (for example, the hatha joga). Their swording and hand fights were very close to the ones that were in Asia and Persia. There were also a special category of women-warriors, who took part in struggles and hunt. As an example we can take a Skiff Diane's cult of 'bow-holders'. In legends of ancient Greece she is compared with Goddess Artemis. In the beginning of IV century Skiff tribes had established a town called Surozh (now ' Sudak) on the Southern-East coast of Krym. This name probably goes from 'surja'- a category, which is analogical to the eastern comprehension of 'cy', but, according to Skiffs-Skolots, has a 'sunny' beginning (remember the God Hors). By this way, a comprehension of 'Korosu' as of a 'way of enemy's termination' already exists for thousands of years!
A.Asov thinks that :'Caucasian Arians can be divided into two big groups: Indian (venedic) and Iran. At first, they were divided not by language, but by their religion. The Vends (Indians) gratified their God Dyja (Dijaus, Divs,Dialu), it means they Devo-admirers. And the Irans (Arians) glorified their Asila Vealace (Ahura Mazda), so they were Aso-admirers. Their contraposition reflected in the myths like the struggle between Deves and Asurs’' By the way, 'God' in Latvian is dievs. And it is not a coincidence! Till our days Lithuanians saved Vendic (Indian). Their language is more closely to the Sanskrit, the language of vedic Arians, then the Slavic language. The Vends (Veneds) lived on a territory of modern Latvia, where they came from the North of the Black Sea. They are straight relatives of Germans-Gots. As a memento about this ancient nation, river Venta and a port-city Ventspils had been saved till our days. In 'Chronic of Henry the Latvian', written in the beginning of XII century a battle between Vends and Kurshs were mentioned. Kurshs were a Baltic tribe, which lived on the Western coast of the Baltic Sea; they were ancestors of modern Latvians. Kurshs (Kursy, Kors, Korosy) became famous because of their fighting art mastery. This 'evil tribe' had tainted the blood of German Christ-holders, who at that time were trying to overtake the new lands in the East. Only after the hundreds of years, with a great labour conquerors had defeated them, but they acknowledged the unbelievable privilege, which Kursh kings had till XX century. Is this a coincidence? Bus is there a logical explanation that this valorous tribe had saved and multiplied ancient fighting traditions of Korosu and, due to this was noticed by the weaker neighbours?
The time of Great Relocation of the tribes (II-VII c.) is known well enough. At that times an intermixture of different tribes was going on not only in borders of the separate tribe unions, but between the population of Europe and Asian stretches in common. A transformation of weapons and struggle moves was going on also. Slavic fighting skills had became more complex, they started wars in alliances with roamers, and also with Avarars (although, they had often struggled against them). The kin community with elements of clan-caste rules had created systems of elite fighting arts among the most different nations, from the Celts to Japanese. In the conditions of massive array, a skill of struggle and winning was brought to the selection of individual principles and skills, which every warrior elected for himself.
At that time a word 'Russ' or 'Ross' had been often appearing in ancient sources. And people who belonged to this comprehension were called 'Russichi'. What is the origin of this nice name? For the hundreds of years already the scientists of different countries have been trying to solve this mystery. Many contradictory and sometimes strange hypotheses exist. According to the latest discoveries, we can see that investigators were using the wrong point of view deriving the name 'Russ' from the place of living (river name or region). Isn't it more logical to try to look deeper to the Indo-European sources? Maybe there is a connection with Sanskrit? With the words 'rayja', 'radzhya'‘In the clan-caste structure of traditional societies of India and Iran there are 'kshatries' ' 'warriors'. We are thinking: 'Ko-ROSU'. Is it possible that 'russ' ' is not a tribe, not a nation, but a CLAN OF WARRIORS, the defenders, the fighters. Like the Kshatries they had protected their land from the enemies, but differently they were not a closed caste, where was an access only due to the origin. Every valiant could become a 'russ' if he had proved this right with his fighting art! This version explains a lot of things, for example, it explains why the area of settling is so big: Rusichi (Russia), Belarussians (Belarus), Ethruscs (ancient people of Italy), Rutens (modern France), Mavruss (North Africa), Redons (modern Britain), Biturugs, Rems (modern Belgium), Heruscs (modern Germany), Recyses, Rugies (Baltic coasts), Rosses (modern Dunaj), Rocsolans (near Black Sea), Boruscs, etc. Definitely, that in ancient times different tribes, not depending on their name, had their own elite selected warriors ' the 'russ', who perfectly new Eurasian fighting traditions. Only with time, after the centuries, when the real meaning was forgotten, the words 'Russ' and 'Russians' were used to call a concrete country and nation. Maybe because of that, during all the times, Russia had its national tolerance like in memory about internal Indo-European past? Of course, this brave hypothesis needs an extra investigation, but we need to remember, that from the times of Kiev Russia there were great warriors, who faithfully served to the Dukes and Lords, defending the boarders of their motherland and not only Russian tribe, but also Scandinavians, Chiudes, Turks, Berendies, Kipchiaks, Litvins and many others were among these warriors, and their blood had flowed honour of the Russian clan of warriors!
Today we must be grateful to Colonel Nikonor Tarasovitch Korotky (1908-1971), who actually became the first spreader of the ancient system. His surname speaks for itself. This is an old clan of warriors, where secrets of the enemy's termination art, the art of Korosu had passed from one generation to another. In our days nobody can remember when the name of fighting tradition had transformed to the clan's surname, and there were only few persons who knew WHAT meaning this strange word had. Family's legend announces that during the Russian-Japanese war colonel's farther, Taras Korotky, was captured and had spent a few years in Japan. There he was living with elite Japanese families and made agricultural works. Honest worker and curious person he found a common language with some Japanese masters of fighting arts. He had shared his knowledge with them and they were very surprised, that he, a Russian soldier, communicated with them on equal rights. There were many common things between his effective movement of Korosu and moves of their Aiki-dziucu and Dziu-dziucu, which were demonstrated to him. Due to this he returned to Russia and enriched his techniques with skills of some schools of Aiki-dziucu and Dziu-dziucu of the Daito-riu clan Takeda. He shared his impressions and knowledge with his son, and that, probably, made an influence on his future choice and destiny. He became a manningful military officer of the Red Army. N.T. Korotky had studied the system of hand fighting, which was formed in the twenties by NKVD specialist N. Oznobishin, took lessons from V. Spiridonov, visited seminars of B. Ochepkov. Communications with masters of native SAMBO allowed him to develop Karasu artistically and to adapt it to the actuality of the XX century. But, in difference, N.T. Korotky was not an instructor, but military officer, to whom, like to the other military professionals, especially during the war, the main aim was a termination of enemy. So it is natural that from a system of self-defence, as it was predicted earlier, system of Korosu under the influence of war became a system of enemy's termination.
N.T. Korotky had often took place at military operations and had a possibility to ensure in one or another movement's efficiency. During his work, N.T. Korotky had closely communicated with people, who on their duties had been to China, Japan, Korea and in the countries of Europe and in America. From then he had got extra knowledge about European and American systems of self-defence about the Chinese box, Japanese Ninziucu, Aiki-dziucu, Thai boxing and etc. He carefully analysed all this things and had selected a particular operative arsenal and created his own technique of preparation. In this way, soaking the most efficient and practical elements from the native and foreign systems, a modern version of fighting art of Korosu had appeared. Efficiency and usefulness of this fighting art had been checked and improved during the Finland War, Great National War, during war with Japan and also during different special operations after the war. It was an elite system and did not involve massive teaching of soldiers, as it requested the individual access and the deep remake of theory and practice personally to every student. Due to this, by Korosu were instructed usually only general staff of officers and contra intelligence service and, in exception, junior officers, who had prosecuted national important tasks. Because of it many methodologies and techniques were inserted in preparation course of the diversionists and illegal intelligence officers of GRU and organs of the National Defence system. 1943-1945 y.y. system, formed by N.T. Korotky were successfully used by SMERSH officers in detention and termination of the enemy's agency, which was situated on our territory. Definitely, there could not be any talks of open information's printing about creation and developing such an efficient system of close fighting in our country. Korosu was developing under the sign "Absolute secrecy".
Working in our days, Korosu patriarch Valerij Nikonorovich Korotky had passed a teaching course of his father N.T. Korotky and had repeated his destiny in many ways. Serving for the military forces of USSR and taking officer's position, he continued to develop system of Korosu and had enriched it with the techniques of modern Japanese fighting arts of Aikido and Karate, Korean hvarangdo and with traditional soviet hand fighting of the Tadeuszh Kasjanov' school. He was the master of boxing and sambo, the specialist of the hand fighting and the owner of a number of Master's degrees in different kind and directions of eastern fighting arts. And this is not a full list of his nominations over his 50 years experience of training in fighting arts. At present time he is a pensioner, who is living in Minsk, working upon a series of educational- methodological issues and videofilms about Korosu. He often goes abroad to read seminars in the centres of Korosu development about his family's system and shares his experience with a few students among which is his son Vitalij. During 36 years of his life V.V. Korotky being in the staff of borderline had fought with the bands of drug sellers on the Afghan border was injured and had saved his hand only by a miracle. He had passed a good school of Eastern fighting arts, box, sambo and hand fighting and had got the 6 Master's degree (the 6 Dan) in fighting art of Korosu. He is now living in Minsk and working as instructor shares his knowledge with youth. As you can see, Korosu have been developing by the fourth generation already like the original system of fight!
THE FEATURES OF KOROSU SYSTEM
Where is the power of Eurasian fighting system? The main advantage of Korosu is that we do not accept this system separately from all complex of fighting arts that exist today all over the world. We are creating something new: some strange and funny movements or mysterious dancing steps. The power of Korosu is in its principles the understanding of that allows everyone to use his individual technique. And the disadvantage of many fight arts is that they are bound very tightly to its individual creator. For example, Keokushin-karate. A beautiful fighting art with its philosophy and traditions. But sometimes a heart pours with blood, when we see a little trivial fellow, visiting training of Keokushin. After all, his creator, the great Masutacu Ojama, was a large man with great power, and his created style was massive and powerful. It doesn't suit to adults of small height, so it was created! The opposite situation is when fat and massive people try to learn Thekvon-do. The Koreans are small and slim, so they created fast and jumping fighting art. And where are you swarming with your 100 kg?! Why did so many styles of Ushu have appeared in China during some period? It was usual when a man with crippled left leg could travel all around the country for years, looking for the school, which could be ideally right for his blemish. If there were no such school, than he could create it himself: 'A School of Crippled (on a left leg) Master'. So what, do we must copy this master blindly? A hundred of styles were born in a result!
Universality of Korosu can let everyone to adapt fighting technique for himself, without reference to his height, weight, age and personal experience. The technique is unique! The system allows parting the influence on the enemy (in difference from others). Making the same move you can either terminate enemy or just hit his back. The task of instructor is to find missing things in the preparation of a pupil. This job is very creative and individual. Somebody came to the group with no skills and somebody ha the Master's degree in some kind of sport. Why do we need to teach him once more and change things that he is used to? Some nuances are added to his technique and his manner of fighting, and he suddenly realises that he is working in accordance with system. This feeling is fantastic! Let's note the three main principles. The first is absolute relaxation of body and mind. Not to empty consciousness, like the Japanese do, but only to relax. The second is simplicity and reality of the used technique and an absence of inanity (once again, according to personal features of everyone). Absolutely natural movements. There is no need to repeat one move for 10 thousand times. You need only to understand it one time! The third is absence of power resistance to enemy. There is nothing new, as you can see. But we follow that every person brings something from himself and in his own natural way. Korosu doesn't stand on one place, but is always changing. The tank T-34 was the best military machine during the years of Great National War. But only a potential killer is able to use it on modern battlefield.
Many people start to connect technique to its using conditions. For example, sometimes we can hear: 'When I was kicked with a fist, I could turn my shoulder straight to the kick, but if there is a knife than I'd use another move'. This is a tragic mistake! Just imagine for a moment that you were attacked in a dark passage and by a habit, you turned the shoulder straight to the kick (hurrah to the 'iron shirt'!). And the monster had a knife or even worse ' a rusty nail! So what is thenTherefore, a technique must be universal.
A first reaction on the attack must be on the level of steady reflex. Only afterwards you can analyse everything and preferably to do it after it was finished. You can think and analyse during the training and in a real battle you must act!
Very close to Korosu stands the principle of rakes (we don't advise anybody to step on them!) After all the harder you step, the harder you will be kicked. There must be softness and grace. Let's take a piece of cotton wool. It is so soft, fuzzy and warm. And you want to squeeze it so much. And there is a needle inside! Remember the cat. Being also fuzzy, it always lands on its four paws, but do not try to touch it! Absolutely not by a coincidence a lynx as well as a cat had become a symbol of Korosu. But this is our cat, it walks on the snow. An independent and freedom-loving animal. It doesn't let to be trained.
Water had become an ideal symbol. It is soft, hauling and not dangerous. Sometimes it is hard and sometimes is so speedy. But there is no more dangerous thing than water all over the world! This is as gas, ice, an ocean, a waterfall. It can be ANYTHING! Regrettably, not everywhere in this view is accepted. There maybe another views in Middle Asia where is not enough water. But we can not imagine a better thing for a European.
We must remember that the power of our warriors has always been not only in perfect personal preparation, but also in faculty of acting together with comrades like the one team. Aleksej Tolstoj, writing about the port quarters of the European cities noticed that: 'Here the main battles between the sailors of separate flotation had took place. Before the war there were Russian soldiers who won, - they walked like a wall, together, crushed with their iron fists the Turkish, French, Italian sculls and even the sculls Englishmen, who being good at separate fighting, roared and spat their tooth, run from the fun houses, overlapping beautiful women to the Russians'.
From a tradition we take only logic useful things. Korosu is a military fighting art that's why we train in modern military clothes in army's camouflages. This is comfortable and practical. Of course, it is not forgivable, when for example a Dziudo instructor makes his lessons wearing shorts and shirt. Dziudo has traditions of another kind. This is an element of the Japanese culture, which deserves respecting. We save the resection, but we don't wear a kimono. There must be an artistic access to all things. As all the canonised things serve for keeping people in belts. From the ancient times our people used to build all on the forever changing, artistic beginnings. Is it possible some how to fix it in books or in manuscripts? Of course not! The thing also proves that there were no notes about our native fighting arts in ancient chronic, although they had really existed.
WHAT IS FIGHTING ART KOROSU TODAY?
Korosu is based on the core of different systems of defense and attack with a gun as well as without it. It includes more effective elements from the Eastern and Western fighting art. The scope of the system was considerably enriched by the ancient traditional single combats of the nations of the USSR. Also, Korosu fundamentally differs from all other systems mainly by the fact that it is based on the knowledge of anatomical structure of the human being, on the skills of how to quickly switch from one technique to another, on the knowledge of the balance of the body, on the knowledge of 'spurt' and on a deep comprehension of the process of a real fight. The main target is the skills of defense and attack in various real-life circumstances, leading of the fight without surrender irrespective of the number of the enemies with the help of different kinds of guns and improvised means as well as without any guns. Depending upon the set up targets and the surrounding circumstances Korosu allows implementing disarmament, capture of enemy alive avoiding severe injury or killing. Original own methodology and several basic principles and movements are used in the course of preparation. Elements and principles of Korosu in various combinations allow to struggle against armed and disarmed enemies even in case there are several of them. The system develops staying-power, self-possession, speed, mobility and ability of escape from the most difficult situations. The system Korosu is an especially effective kind of fighting art. In case of mastering of Korosu even the persons broken down or wounded can defeat the enemy, and the elderly people can defeat healthy young people. The warriors use the strength and energy of those attacking while using their own at the minimal scale. In the course of training the trainees perceive how to use the strength of the enemy with the help of a light movement. The system Korosu includes various throwing and striking techniques, working with traditional and non-traditional guns, skills of usage of any subsidiary and manual measures. Besides, Korosu includes various defense and attack techniques allowing choosing sets of self-defense or killing in different situations depending upon the set targets and individual physical data and age. The system Korosu conditionally can be divided into two subsystems:
I. The system of limited fight
The target is defense from attack, disarmament, prevention from movement, escort of enemy without any serious injuries. Conditionally it can be divided into two trends:
1. Self-defense. Defensive operations against one or several attacking persons (freeing from attacks constraining movements, resistance to throwing and attacking techniques) used by ordinary persons in order to countervail criminal infringement of persons or personal property when the heath and life of the defendant is not subject to big danger.
2. Police technique. Technique of self-defense and attack for disarmament, prevention from movement and escort is used by law enforcement and low and order institutions, also by some other power structures in case of detention of lawbreakers and criminals that show opposition to the representatives of the governmental bodies when they are on duty, in case of suppression of attempts to organize mass disorders on the street or in prisons.
The target is destruction of the enemy or taking out of action for a prolonged period. This system is applied in military situations and also in such cases and every-day situations when there is a real threat for own life. It includes the technique of self-defense and attack without any guns as well as using any materials at hand. Besides, this subsystem includes special divisions of psychological effect on the enemy, methods of introduction of forced express inquest, working with energy with the aim of war as well as healing, methods of fight in the situations of limited capabilities (in difficult circumstances, in case of injury), etc. conditionally, it can be divided into two trends:
1. Self-defense. Defense actions against one or several as a rule attacking persons in order to kill them or apply severe injuries. It is used by ordinary citizens in order to countervail criminal infringement of persons or personal property when the heath and life of the defendant is subject to real danger.
2. Technique of Special Forces. Technique of self-defense and attack in the situation of fight in order to achieve total destruction of the enemy. It is applied in case of military actions, in carrying out reconnaissance ' sabotage operations, in case of carrying out military operations in combat against terrorism, in stopping armed defense of dangerous criminals or organized groups of criminals, etc. All the technical actions of both subsystems are based on the same basic elements and principles. This allows in case of need to rapidly switch from one level of impact on the enemy to another, i.e. dosage of this impact and sufficient operational determination regarding necessary and essential outcome of the fight.
Considering the fact that the system was designated for preparation of the higher officers of the Soviet Special Forces, as I have mentioned before, until recently Korosu was secret and was developed only in the department of the national defense and military reconnaissance. For the first time the elements of European fighting tradition Korosu was demonstrated to the global community by the son of the founder of the system, acting patriarch Korosu Valerij Nikonorovich Korotkij in year 1997 during the inaugural conference of the Global Federation of Fighting Arts 'For the Peaceful World' in the USA, Washington City, where he was invited together with 300 best masters of fighting arts from 137 countries of the world. Only 11 masters from the former USSR were among the invited persons.
Official Representative Offices of Korosu were founded in Byelorussia (Minsk, Vitebsk, Mogilev), Latvia (Riga), Russia (Desnogorsk, Smolensk), Ukrain (Odessa, Cherson) and has been functioning up to today.
